ABOUT THE PROJECT

IPKO’s intranet web application for employees was redesigned to meet the company’s internal needs.

An intranet is a computer network that uses Internet Protocol technology to exchange information, operating systems or computer services within an organisation.

The term is used as a contrast to the Internet, an inter-organisational network. Sometimes the term is used to refer only to an organisation’s internal website, but it can also be a larger part of an organisation’s IT infrastructure and consist of several local networks.

The application allows you to read internal news, register for events, an advanced employee directory and other useful information. The application is divided into two parts, the editorial part and the SPA (single page application) for the frontend application. The latest trends and technologies have been used.

The application integrates data transfer from SAP, integration with Mircrosoft GraphAPI (Teams status) for current user status was also made. The application allows sending daily and weekly newsletters, which are prepared by the editors in their editorial work.

The editorial part of the intranet site (in-house use) is written using Umbraco CMS based on .NET 6 technology. GraphQL is used to serve data to the frontend to reduce unnecessary calls and to transfer only the data that is actually displayed on the site. It is deployed in docker containers on a Linux server to facilitate scalability. data is stored in MS SQL server. For a better user experience, authentication is handled with a Single Sign On solution via Azure Active Directory, which automatically signs users into both the editorial part and the website.

The intranet frontend is written using the Angular v12 framework, also hosted in Docker containers and completely decoupled from the editorial part. The application is designed in a modular way, which means that the same components can be used in different parts of the application, allowing for faster development.
