ABOUTTHE CLIENT

The Slovenian Platform for Sustainable Mobility is a support service for Slovenian cities, municipalities, regions, and institutions that have decided to address mobility issues in a comprehensive and long-term manner. The platform is being developed within the LIFE IP CARE 4 CLIMATE project, under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, Climate, and Energy – Directorate for Transport Policy, in collaboration with other project partners.

The main purpose of the platform is to serve as a central tool for disseminating sustainable mobility content to key stakeholders involved in the planning, decision-making, and implementation of tasks in the field of sustainable mobility, and it acts as a one-stop source of information.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The website or portal sptm.si is built using the Concrete 5 tool. It is a traditional portal with a forum and a wealth of additional content, for which Concrete 5 is ideal since it is free and open-source under the MIT software license. Concrete 5 is suitable for both small businesses and large enterprises, as well as for government and non-governmental portals and websites.

So, what kinds of websites can be created with the Concrete tool?

– Online magazines, newspapers, and portals
– eCommerce sites
– Extranet and Intranet networks/portals
– Government websites
– Small business websites
– Nonprofit and non-governmental organization websites
– Church, club, and team websites
– Personal or family homepages
– Marketing-focused corporate websites
– Educational institution websites

Many CMSs (content management systems) are developed by developers for developers. Building and maintaining a website with them can be quite complex and intimidating for someone who doesn’t know how to program. The user experience may work well in the final editing stage, but if you want to make even basic content changes, you’re usually working with long web forms in the backend. Adding new features requires technical knowledge and experience. Imagine having to call a consultant every time you wanted to write a new Word document. How useful would such a program be?

On the other hand, there are many solutions aimed at the DIY (do it yourself) segment of the market. These tools are great for quickly building small sites. However, some of their assumptions and limitations that make it easy to start and quickly finish a website later become obstacles, as you can’t scale or adapt the site to new and growing needs.

With Concrete, you get the best of both worlds. Anyone can launch their website in seconds, and the editing experience is simple: just click on what you want to change and make the change. Developers still get a flexible framework for building complex web applications. With Concrete, you’ll have a website where you can continue to make changes and enhancements in the coming years as the need arises.

The design was created in collaboration with Renderspace.
