The Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Slovenia, led by the General State Prosecutor, is the highest body within the state prosecution system. It is organized into several departments:
- Criminal Department
- Civil and Administrative Affairs Department
- Education and Professional Oversight Department
- Organization and Management Development Department
Additionally, the Professional-Information Center operates as an internal organizational unit of the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office.
Located in Ljubljana, the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office serves the entire territory of the Republic of Slovenia. Its primary functions are carried out by Supreme State Prosecutors, who predominantly exercise their statutory powers before the Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia. However, they may also act before lower courts, including higher, district, and local courts.
The Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office also coordinates and provides training for district state prosecutor’s offices and the Specialized State Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Slovenia. To handle complex professional tasks, senior, district, and local state prosecutors can be assigned to the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office.
